Liz Heffernan, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT is a gifted international teacher, a certified Yoga Therapist and long- term practitioner.  She combines her in-depth knowledge of anatomically informed alignment with insights and practical wisdom gained from 23 years of yoga teaching & immersive study. 
Liz is the founder of Soma Yoga Institute, a worldwide yoga teacher training school that embraces a therapeutically-oriented, heart-centered approach. Her teachings and immersion programs, heralded by many as truly inspirational, serve to impart Yoga as a vehicle for vibrant health, self-transformation, and personal empowerment.  

Dedicated to educating yoga teachers in a safe and conscious approach to teaching aging bodies, pure beginners and injured students, Liz developed the online Yoga S.A.F.E certification program. Additionally, she is co-creator of the Memory Maintenance Yoga Teacher Training, an online program that unites the findings from new evidence-based research with yoga to help preserve brain health for a lifetime. Liz, also, serves as a faculty-mentor for the Kripalu School of Integrative Yoga Therapy 1000-hour program.
Liz loves sharing the transformative philosophy of yoga through myths and stories and has found a hidden talent as a storyteller. She believes that the when the philosophical perspective mingles with the practice, the path of Yoga becomes a force that uplifts not just the individual, but all beings everywhere, ultimately uplifting planetary consciousness one conscious breath at a time.
