Kavita Kat Macmillan is a devotional musician & creative guide with a deep study of Indian Classical vocal music and love for Kirtan & chanting. Kavita brings over 20 years of training, performing, teaching & sharing kirtan and Sound Yoga to her offerings.  She is known for being a nurturing presence connecting participants with the healing power of their own authentic voice.  Kavita's deep heartfelt music showcases strong vocals, Indian inspired instrumentation and rich harmonies. Open Heart Kirtan is a coming together. A musical celebration of spirit where we open our hearts and voices through the practice of Sanskrit chanting & sacred song. The tradition of Kirtan, call and response style chanting is a form of Bhakti yoga... the yoga of devotion. At Open Heart Kirtan we share sacred chants and songs from different spiritual traditions and together, through repetition of the mantras we raise our collective and individual vibrations. All are welcome, All races, religions, backgrounds, gender identities and ages. No experience necessary!

We have inside of us the most magical instrument of all… our VOICE!  As part of the fabric of this life each one of us has a particular part to sing and play.  If we leave our voice out of the beautiful tapestry of sounds around us, there is something missing from the whole! 

Come sing with others as we create a safe container for vocal exploration.  Through group exercises, Bhakti yoga practice (kirtan), movement, songs and lots of connecting and support, Kavita guides participants to unpack stories and energetics that hold us back from singing freely. Through this process we allow for the softening of our self critic and the opening of our own path to voice.
